The diameter of the liner in a stripped thread closure is larger than the one of an unscrewed thread closure.

The CR1 caps require a special neck height to allow the outer cap to be pressed down and engage with the inner cap in a mechanism allowing you to unscrew the cap. If the minimum height is not respected the outer cap touches the neck of the bottle making it impossible for the mechanism to be engaged and in consequence to unscrew the cap from your bottles.
